Everything you need to get started with Threat View

Threat View provides AI-powered safety assessments for your calendar events across Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Google Calendar. Below you'll find answers to common questions and how to get help.

๐Ÿš€Getting Started

To set up Threat View for your organization:

  • Step 1: A Tenant Administrator installs the Threat View app from the Microsoft Teams App Store
  • Step 2: The administrator grants consent for the required permissions (read calendar events and organization info)

Works with personal Gmail and Google Workspace accounts. You can revoke access at any time from your Google Account settings.

โ“Frequently Asked Questions

What permissions does Threat View need?

Microsoft Teams: Permission to read organization information, access tenant member details, and read calendar events.
Google Calendar: Permission to read your calendar events, email address, and basic profile information.
In both cases, only meeting location data is processed โ€” we never access message content, files, or personal communications.

Who can grant consent?

Microsoft Teams: Only a Microsoft 365 Tenant Administrator (Global Admin) can grant consent on behalf of the organization.
Google Calendar: Any individual user can grant consent for their own Google account.

What data does Threat View collect?

We collect only calendar event locations, event dates/times, and the minimum account information needed for authentication. We do not access meeting content, attendee lists, or personal communications. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How is safety assessed?

Threat View uses AI to analyze meeting locations by integrating real-time crime statistics, traffic data, weather alerts, and news reports. Each location receives a safety score with actionable recommendations.

Which platforms are supported?

Threat View works across Microsoft Teams (desktop and web), Outlook, Microsoft 365, and Google Calendar.

How do I revoke access?

Microsoft Teams: Contact your Tenant Administrator to remove the app from your organization.
Google Calendar: Visit Google Account Permissions and remove Threat View. Your data will be deleted within 30 days.

๐Ÿ”งTroubleshooting

Microsoft Teams

"Your organization is not registered"

This means admin consent has not been granted yet. Ask your Tenant Administrator to open the Threat View app in Teams and click "Grant Consent." Contact us if you need a new organization set up.

Tab not loading / blank screen

Try refreshing the tab. If the issue persists, ensure your browser or Teams client is up to date. Clear the cache and try again. Contact us if the problem continues.

"Failed to initialize Teams SDK"

This can occur if the app is opened outside of the Teams environment. Make sure you're accessing Threat View from within Microsoft Teams, Outlook, or Microsoft 365.

Google Calendar

"Access denied" or consent screen errors

Ensure you are signing in with a valid Google account. If the consent screen shows a warning about the app being unverified, this may be because the app is still under review. Contact us for assistance.

Calendar events not appearing

After connecting your Google Calendar, it may take a few minutes for events to sync. Make sure your calendar events have location information โ€” events without locations cannot be assessed for safety.

Want to disconnect your Google account?

Go to Google Account Permissions, find "Threat View", and click "Remove Access". Your stored data will be deleted within 30 days.
